Happy New Year!

Our Women's Ministry Team did a great job at our Year ending Girls Nite In Event. We are excited to see what God has in store for us in 2015. We are in the process of planning for 2015 including a Girls Nite In Event in March, Women's Day in May and our annual Workshop in August. Pastor Marc has declared 2015 the Year of Transition...How Will God Use You? We look forward to seeing you in the coming months!

Garden Getaway Workshop

We are gearing up for our Annual Women's Workshop which will be held on August 2nd starting at 8:30 AM tell 3:30 PM. This workshop is open to teens and adult women of all ages! The cost is $20.00 pp and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and all workshop material for that day. Early registration begins on June 1st immediately following the morning service (registration deadline ends July 13th). Come to our Garden Getaway "Where Women Walk With God"! Women's Day Services

Hello ladies it is almost time for our annual Women's Day Celebration. Our theme this year is "Celebrating Women of Every Generation". Our scripture is Ecclesiastes 3: To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Our colors are Black and White . Women's assessment is $100.00, Men $50.00, and Youth $15.00.

Rev. Anna Copeland, associate minister at New Hope Baptist Church in Chesapeake VA will be our speaker which is being held on May 18th at 11:30 AM 

Guest musician will be Mrs. Olivia Jennings

That afternoon we will continue the celebration with a time of Music, Poetry and Dance. Special guest include Praise singers from Calvary Revival Church Chesapeake, and New Hope Baptist Church in Chesapeake. See you soon ladies!!!

Girls Nite Out

Thank you to all of the ladies who attended our first Girls Nite Out this past Friday. 23 ladies of every generation braved the wind and rain to come out that evening.

Our next Women's ministry event will take place on May18th when we hold our annual Women's Day service at 11:30. Our theme this year is Celebrating Women of Every Generation. We continue the celebration that afternoon with a special service starting at 2 PM.

Our annual Women's workshop will take place on August 2nd at 8:30 AM. The cost of this event is $20 per person and is open to women and teen girls. A pre-registration (which includes a $10.00 non refundable fee) will begin on June 1st).

Join us October 4th at Mount Trashmore for a Making Strides Cancer Walk. Additional info to come.

The Women's Ministry will host a Girls Nite In Christmas Party on December 12th at WABC.

Women's Ministry Workshop

 

If you missed our Women's Workshop this summer you missed a treat! And I'm not just talking about the chocolate. This year we held our annual workshop in August in order to not take away from the events of Women's Day. We were blessed to have nearly 30 women registered for the workshop! As usual our women's ministry team outdid themselves in the hospitality department. Several of the facilitators were my family members or close friends and each brought their own unique flavor to the workshop. On top of all that we were blessed by the worship portion of special guest from Calvary Revival Chesapeake. We not only feed the spirit but our ladies feasted on special treats. Cafe Chocolat

Ladies mark your calender for August 3rd at 8:30 AM. The Women's Ministry will host their annual Women's Workshop. Welcome to Cafe Chocolat! A fun, life changing bible based event for women focused on the Miracles of Jesus.Chocolat Cafe...where women delight in God's Grace! Treat yourself to something "Sweet"! The cost of this event is $24.00 per person. T-shirts may be available for an additional cost. Additional info will be available in the coming months. Registration begins June 30th. A registration fee of $12 will be due at sign up and final payment will be due July 14th.

Women's Weekend Workshop

WABC ladies get ready to be blessed! Our Women's Day speaker on May 19th will be Rev. Catherine Williams Harris associate minister of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Virginia Beach VA.

Women's Day 2013

WABC ladies we will celebrate Women's Day on May 19th! Its also the 5th Anniversary of the WABC Women's Ministry. Our theme this year is "Women Delighting In God's Grace"! In honor of the occasion we are asking each women to wear her favorite "hat" that Sunday. And yes, that means Lady J will have a hat on that day!! We look forward to seeing a sanctuary full of rainbow colors, so wear your favorite color to match your favorite hat! More info to come in the coming months!!!!

WABC Ladies Being Honored

The WABC Women's Ministry would like to congratulate Erica Morrison and Mazie Gray who along with Special Honoree Irma Rodgers were reconized at the 21st Annual Tidewater Women's Baptist Missionary Convention luncheon. Congrats ladies!

Women's Weekend Wrap Up!

Where to even begin? I do believe this was our best Women's Weekend Experience yet at WABC! We started off the weekend with a bang with movie night. Saturday morning as the ladies started showing up (eagerly I night add) for our workshop I prayed that the women who gathered that day would leave feeling refreshed and renewed. Our theme for the weekend was on point! Women Basking In God's Presence!!!! Pamela Tanner ushered in the holy spirit during our praise and worship session. Thank you Pam for not just your sweet voice, but for your sweet spirit!

How do I even begin to thank all of our facilitators? Thank you Ms. Annette Brockett for starting us off just right. I knew your bubbly personality would be just what we needed to start our sessions off with a BANG! To Elizabeth...I love seeing the young women of God you have turned into! To our very own Caronne, your soft spoken and calm voice was just what was needed for that session! To my friend Lula, thank for stepping in on such short notice. You did an excellent job. To Mama Greene, what can I say...thank you for always being there when we need you. Your presence each year has been a blessing to the women of WABC in so many ways. To my cousin Chrystal.....thank your for sharing your testimony with the women, I believe that you sharing your story not only touched our women but caused a major shift in someones life. Love you girl! Of course I can't forget my daughter Nicki our media guru! Thanks Nic for all that you do for WABC, often at the expense of your own interest. I have to mention two special friends who sent props, and prizes for our weekend. Thank you Robbie Curlee and Nan Evans for being such sweet friends!

Sunday we closed out our program with Rev. Jospehine Cherry! My oh my! Rev. Cherry closed that thing out with her message of just being still!!!! I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but that one really hit close to home. So much so that I've spent the week...just being......STILL (said with a whisper)! To Mama Cat, thank you for heading the holy spirits call to visit. I feel blessed that you took time out of your very busy schedule to worship with the women of WABC! Of course we have to congratulate our Women of The Year....Calonia Fults. Thank you so much for all that you do for not just my family, but for the family of God that is WABC! God blessings to you and to your family who showed up and showed out! Enjoy your time of REST!!!!!

Of course none of this would have been possible without the support of our Pastor. Thank you honey for believing in me, and this ministry. Lastly, I have to thank the Women's Ministry Team that continues to surprise (and make me proud) me. You ladies took on the task this weekend with grace, flair and finesse. I could not do what I do, if you all did not do what you do. Love you ladies to life. To our participants I hope that you left feeling just a bit closer to our Father God, and that you will take what you learned this weekend and share it with someone else. Seaside Escape

Ladies this is the last week to register before our Weekend Experience! Your $20.00 registration fee is due first Sunday in May. Please make all checks payable to Woodland Ave Baptist Church . Our ministry team is looking forward to seeing you that weekend. 

Our weekend begins with a movie night on Friday May 18 at 7 PM. Saturday morning May 19th join us bright and early at 8:30 AM for a full day of food, fun and fellowship at our Seaside Escape Retreat. You can see info on our facilitators here.

SeaSide Escape consists of seven unique sessions. During our retreat, women will use seven items typically found at the beach as metaphors for what they're learning. Most sessions include worship and Bible study focusing on the story of Sarah and Hagar from Genesis. All sessions allow time for laughter and fun. Women draw close to God during a personal time of reflection and prayer, make a difference through a one-of-a-kind service project, and come to truly understand the meaning of Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God."

We wrap up the weekend with our annual Women's Day Service on Sunday May 20th at 11:30 AM. Our speaker will be Rev. Josephine Cherry, associate minister at First Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dumfries Virginia.

ZUMBA!!!!!

Our first official Zumba class was a big success. This class is open to men and women, so come on over! Zumba classes are held every Saturday at 10:30 AM. Each participant is asked to bring a $3.00 to $5.00 donation for our instructor Elizabeth.

Let's Get Ready To ZUMBA!!!!!

So we may not have a fully equipped Gym at WABC (yet), but that's no reason not to get in gear! Starting April 7th at 10:30 AM WABC will host a weekly ZUMBA class at WABC! Anyone is welcome to participate (if you have health issues please check with your doctor in advance). All that we ask is that you bring a donation of $3.00-$5.00 for our intructor who is giving of her time and talent for free! For more info please speak with Nicki Jennings.

Girls Nite Out at Love and Hope Ministries Benefit Concert

Ladies if you missed the concert last Friday you missed a blessing! Our next Girls Night In event will take place the weekend of our Women's' Weekend Experience. Sign-ups begin April 1st.

Seaside Escape

Ladies registration for our Women's Weekend Experience will began on April 1st! The cost of this event is $20.00 per person and includes your workshop materials, continental breakfast that morning, and your lunch. Come join us at Seaside Escape where women bask in God's presence! And its been confirmed that our Women's Day Speaker will be Rev. Josephine Cherry, associate minister at First Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dumfries Virginia.

Girls Night Out

Our Girls Night In Event that was set for February 24th has been rescheduled for Friday March 16th at 7 PM. There is a small change in our event. The women of WABC (along with their friends) are invited to join Lady Cyndi at a benefit concert for Love and Hope Ministries at New Life Providence Church in Virginia Beach. The concert is free but donations will be accepted the night of the concert. Guest that evening will be entertained by Alenzo Albritton of the nationally acclaimed "Albritton Singers"! Pastor Marc is asking that some of the men from WABC volunteer to greet guest at the doors that evening.

Girls Night In

Happy New Years ladies!!!! A few weeks ago Diane and I got to spend the evening hanging out with some old girlfriends! Not old in age of course, but friends we hadn't spent time with in a while. Its been a minute since the WABC ladies hung out together.....so the Women's Ministry is inviting you to a Girls Night In event on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 PM. We are asking each lady to bring her favorite dessert to share and to grab one of her girlfriends along for a night of fellowship and fun.
